New Instructor at Grupo Folklorico del Pueblo

 Pueblo, CO – Celina Martinez has performed all over the United States and Mexico. She founded and   toured internationally with Ballet Folklorico Huehuecoyotl. Her shows have been performed in Austria, Serbia, and most recently Las Vegas

 Now, Grupo Folklórico del Pueblo is proud to announce Celina Martinez is returning home as our newest dance instructor. June 6 at 120 Lake Ave. Ms. Martinez will begin  teaching her touring repertory. All those who learn her repertory will then  have the opportunity to audition for any of her upcoming shows locally and internationally.  

 Celina Martinez, Graduate as Instructor of the Arts at Instituto Regional de Danza Azueta, Veracruz, Mexico, has over 30 years of experience in dance and folklorico. On multiple occasions she has participated in the ANFG (Asociación de Grupos Folklóricos) conference for dance training. Celina has performed for Guadalupe Dancer, Inc, Grupo Folklórico del Pueblo, and was the director of Grupo Folklórico del Pueblo in 2008. Some of the guest performances she has been involved with in the past are with: Grupo Folklórico México Lindo (Pueblo, CO); Semblanzas de México (Denver, CO); Semillas de la Tierra (Alamosa, CO); IRDA (Xalapa, VER.)

 Grupo Folklórico de Pueblo, Grupo Folklórico del Pueblo was founded in 1996 by Velma, Sara, and Jimmy Newmoon Roybal.  Since then the group has grown to be Pueblo's  premiere folk dance group.  We are a 501c3 non-profit corporation.All students learn the history and cultural significance of the dances and costumes and the regions from which the dances originate.  We are proud to incorporate dances and history that pertain to the New Mexican and Mexican American experience as well.   We offer a complete program which includes dancing, traveling, and performing.  In all classes, beginner through advanced, students learn a variety of regional dances and Mexican Folk traditions that are important to the people of each region.  We believe that learning history should be fun and physically engaging.  Through our school of folk arts and folk dance company we combine dance, music, art, history, and academics to give students the most well-rounded experience.  Our certified instructors and staff are here to ensure a fun, family-friendly experience!
